How this is worked out

The number of windows you pick, times Expert Windows & Doors' published installed price a window for that frame. BuildTech's published price a window is shown next to it where it gives one. The multiplication is ours. Prices read on 3 November 2026. Neither page says whether VAT is in. Size counts: a big picture window or a bay costs more than a small bathroom window, and doors are extra. It's an estimate, never a quote.

Alu-clad

Timber inside, aluminium outside

An alu-clad window is a timber window with an aluminium skin on the outside. You get the look and warmth of timber in the room, and the outside never needs painting. The Irish Examiner puts the price order as PVCu, then timber, then alu-clad, with large windows or premium makes adding up to 30%.

Timber

All-timber windows

Timber windows look right on older houses and are often what the council wants on a protected structure. They need painting or staining every few years outside. Ask what timber it is, how it's treated, and what finish it arrives in.

Questions people ask

How much are alu-clad windows in Ireland?

€1,100 to €2,000+ a window installed (Expert Windows & Doors); €1,200 to €2,000 (BuildTech).

Are alu-clad windows worth it?

If you want timber inside and no painting outside, yes. If the budget is tight, good uPVC insulates as well for less.

Poorly kept ones do, at the sill and the bottom rail. Keep the paint or stain up and they last.
